The season of love has arrived!
It’s time to experience warmer weather, romantic comedies and sweet dates at the lake.
While all of these lovely moments are wonderful, they sometimes keep us from remembering the true meaning of love.
I truly hope that you enjoy romance and fun during this season, however, I think it’s important to be mindful of what love is.
We have found 9 passages of scripture,
30 verses from the Bible,
That will remind you of what love really is.
So, if you’re looking for Bible verses that will fill your heart with love and warm your soul,
You’ve come to the right place!
Here is…
30 amazing Bible verses about love!
Deuteronomy 7:7-9 NKJV.
“The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;”
God’s love is FAITHFUL!
Here we learn that God doesn’t love His people because of anything that we do or anything that we are.
It’s because God loves His people, that He redeemed us.
God doesn’t love us based on our works,
He loves regardless of our works!
We are saved because of His love,
We aren’t loved because of our greatness.
The Old Testament holds evidence that God has always chosen to love us regardless of our works.
God is faithful, even when we are not (2 Timothy 2:13).
God’s love isn’t dependent on our faithfulness!
He decided to love us, and that is a choice that God commits to, even if we fail to do the same.
Hosea 3:1 NKJV.
“Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by a lover and is committing adultery, just like the love of the Lord for the children of Israel, and who look to other gods and love the raisin cakes of the pagans.””
Hosea 14:4 NKJV.
““I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely, For My anger has turned away from him.”
God’s love is FREE!
God shows us in Hosea that even though His people are unfaithful, while He remains faithful, He still freely loves them.
His people betray Him, cheat on Him by committing to false god’s and constantly reject Him…
Yet God doesn’t reject them.
God still chooses to turn away His anger and pay a price to get Israel back.
The price He paid to get us back was the most expensive.
He gave His only begotten Son, whom was spotless, just so He could have His people back.
The LORD could’ve made us pay for our redemption, but He decided to pay the price Himself.
The love that should’ve cost us everything, God gave us for free!
He requires nothing in return!
We just need to receive it.
Matthew 5:43-48 NKJV.
““You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.”
God’s love is UNCONDITIONAL!
Jesus tells us what perfect love looks like!
We get a sneak peak into how God loves.
God loves those who love Him but He also loves those who are against Him.
Love is shown, not in loving those who are easy to love, but in loving those who are difficult to love.
Choosing to love someone who loves you, is easy…
Loving someone who hates you, is a rich and powerful love.
It is a love that we struggle to practice, yet God shows this love towards us everyday!
(Romans 5:8 NKJV.)
John 3:16-17 NKJV.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”
God’s love is GENEROUS!
Because God loves, He gave.
He did the same in the Old Testament.
God doesn’t need our works and achievements before He loves us.
He loves us and because He loves us, we are given mercy, grace and eternal life!
We could never afford to purchase for ourselves what God paid for and gifted to us, free of charge.
Romans 5:6-8 NKJV.
“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God’s love is LIMITLESS!
We are unable to put a cap on the love of God!
Nothing stops Him from loving us.
Us breaking our covenant with God, doesn’t keep us from the love of God.
Even our sin can’t keep us from the love of God!
There is nowhere that we could go, that God’s love wouldn’t still chase us down.
Nothing keeps Him from loving us!
I Corinthians 8:1 NKJV.
“Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.”
God’s love TEACHES!
We tend to think that the more knowledge that we have, the more power we have.
Sure there is power in knowledge, but only that which we apply.
Knowledge without application is useless.
Furthermore, knowledge alone cannot instruct people or lead them.
Knowledge without love, is only good at one thing…
Appearing impressive.
Contrarily, if you have love for people, you can lead and teach them most effectively.
Imagine that someone was telling you information about traffic laws, simply to show you their level of knowledge and expertise.
You are more likely to disregard what the person is saying because you can see that their motive for instructing you is selfish.
However, if someone had genuine concern for you and cared about your well being while they told you of the traffic laws, you would be more likely to learn, because you know that this person is trying to give you information out of love for you.
This is why we don’t change in order to earn God’s love, it is God’s love that changes us!
Knowledge of God’s word doesn’t affect us until we experience God’s love behind His word!
I Corinthians 13:1-8 NKJV.
“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.”
God’s love is DEPENDABLE!
His love never fails!
You can be the smartest person who has amazing faith and religious status, yet without love, it all fails!
Nothing profits if love is not there.
These verses paint a beautiful picture of not only what real love looks like, but also what God’s love looks like.
Without love, everything is empty…
and this perfect love is found in Jesus.
Romans 8:35-39 NKJV.
“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
God’s love is FOREVER!
Nothing can tear us from the love of God.
Jesus dying on that cross for all of our sins is proof that God allows nothing to keep us away from His love!
His love was given to us before we were created and God gave His precious Son Jesus to show us that He will do whatever it takes to show us His love.
No matter what we do or how far we go…
Nothing can separate us from the love of God!
Jesus died to show us this love!
We are more loved than we could ever imagine!
Never have we ever loved anyone as much as God loves us, and we will never love anyone or anything as perfectly as He loves us!
God is our LORD!
Jesus is our King!
Yet He chose to die for you and me!
He didn’t need me.
If He created me by His word, He could make someone who would not stomp on His heart and turn away from Him, like I did…
Like we ALL did!
He chose to commit to me and love me even when I fight Him.
His love is selfless and long-suffering.
It’s forgiving and kind.
Not easily angered, envious or spiteful.
He sees the worst in us, yet He never stops chasing after our hearts!
This love is unlike anything we have ever seen!
You will never be loved this much, by anyone.
You could search the whole world, and you will never find anyone who loves you like your Creator and Redeemer loves you!
His love is never ending!
It’s yours right now!
Remember,
During this season, where we appreciate the love that we share with the people in our lives…
Let us never forget to acknowledge the greatest love that was ever lavished on us!
Never forget the perfect love that you have found in Jesus!
