Tell me if you have ever felt that God couldn’t be sending you for something great.
Be honest…
Have you experienced the following?
You don’t feel as connected with God.
Recently, you have failed to conduct yourself in the right manner, and believe that God couldn’t work through that.
You’ve faced immense opposition and even tragedies, when trying to do what is right.
There are sins and struggles in your life, that you have still not overcome.
You see other people more equipped for a big calling; while you look at your own life and see no potential for God to use you.
Years have gone by and you have either plateaued in progress towards what is good, or things have only gone downhill.
You feel that you have hit rock bottom.
Worst of all, you feel like God is farther from you than He has ever been.
If you have experienced these things,
I have news for you!
You are called to do something great for the Kingdom of God!
This post isn’t purposed to fill you with empty motivational phrases or self-encouragement.
I’m not even going to deny that you are a mess right now and life is truly looking like a downward spiral.
You are a mess!
I know this because I’m just as messy.
I’m here to deliver to you the truth behind the reality, that you are facing.
When you see this, it will completely change how you look at your life!
You are called by God and being sent to do something great for His Kingdom!
Don’t take my word for it.
I will show you Biblical evidence that will prove that you are sent by God!
First, let’s establish something about God.
According to
God doesn’t change!
This is clearly seen in the symmetry throughout scripture.
From Genesis to Revelation, God’s character hasn’t shifted.
So, if God does something repeatedly, using a certain process and in a certain order, it reveals a consistency in His method of teaching.
Consistent teaching methods help us to recognize the Teacher.
In other words, if God taught His people in a certain way before, He will use that method again for the next generation.
He isn’t bound to that method, however, God knows what works when it comes to leading His creation.
His consistency is what helps us to recognize that it is Him who is leading.
This is why God reminded His people of what He has done in the past!
It helped them understand that the same God who was there back then, is here right now!
Now that we have established God’s unwavering character, let’s look at the evidence that supports the fact that
You are called by God!
Let’s begin with a monumental calling!
Go to Genesis 12, when God called Abraham and sent Him to pave the way for all of God’s people!
“Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.””
Genesis 12:1-3 NKJV.
What a calling!
God sent Abraham to lead the way for the whole earth to be blessed!
You would think that Abraham had a nation of people supporting him and a path before him that was as easy as riding an escalator.
We don’t always admit it, but
we think that the sign that God is calling you to something is the absence of opposition or difficulty.
Abraham’s story tells us something different!
He faced
battles with opposing nations,
death of those that he was closest to,
Giving up the one thing that he had always wanted.
Abraham was called by God and sent on a mission that would impact all nations, throughout all generations.
He was chosen to pave the way for God’s people and God did a brand new thing through him!
The road was not paved for Abraham.
It was not an easy climb.
The path was rough because God was using Abraham to make the path smoother for those who would walk down it, after him.
Look at the life of Joseph, in Genesis 37-46.
He started out in a comfortable situation, with a dream in his heart.
A calling from God!
Joseph’s life didn’t look like the influencers on Instagram!
He was faithful to God and did what was right, yet his life kept getting worse and worse!
Joseph went from
You would think that Joseph would start to believe that God has left him.
I mean, Joseph did everything right and still suffered wrongly!
If I was Joseph, I would start to doubt that the dream I once had, was really from God; because the opposition that I was facing, suggested that I was headed in the opposite direction.
We know the end of that story!
This pattern is found in the storyline of every person that God has called, throughout recorded history.
Go to any story in the Bible and you will find that every man or woman who was called to pave the way for God’s people, and lead them to be a set apart nation, all faced the worst of opposition.
Anyone who stepped out in faith, did what was right and followed God’s call, also had to face crushing affliction, oppression, loss and fear.
We don’t talk about the Hebrews who enjoyed Israel after it was an established nation.
They had thriving businesses and healthy children.
Their crops grew abundantly and their livestock were plenty.
They probably would’ve looked very successful on Instagram.
We would see them as equipped for a great calling from God!
They are not the ones who God chose to lead His people into the promise!
The heroes of faith that are commemorated in Hebrews 11, have these things in common:
They faced major persecution, affliction, opposition and difficulties.
They followed God’s call, even if they didn’t feel equipped for it.
They were sent to pave the way for the next generation, in faith.
Their lives did not look like they had a monumental calling from God on them.
God never left them, not for one moment.
The leader of a race faces the most resistance from the wind, because he is cutting the wind with his body; making a path for the racers behind him.
The one paving a path faces the most difficult terrain, so those who will walk after him can walk on level ground.
Those who have great callings on their lives, face opposition.
When God has chosen you to lead others out of what they are used to and into something good, you face resistance.
So, if you are facing opposition and your life doesn’t look like it has a great calling on it, don’t be discouraged.
The opposition you are facing as you keep walking by faith and doing what’s right, it’s evidence that you have a great calling on your life!
Resistance is a sign of leading the way to somewhere new!
The pain is proof of purpose!
You may not see any potential!
Your life may look like a downhill slope, just like Joseph’s, but don’t stop doing what is right!
God has not left you!
He is closer than ever and He has chosen you to impact the Kingdom in a great way!
I know you’re tired and frustrated with how your life looks.
Please don’t give up your calling!
The difficulty is just proof that God is using you for something brand new!
“And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
Galatians 6:9 NKJV.
