Hungry Still?

The story
“For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.”
Psalms 107:9 NKJV
We all want to walk in purpose but we oftentimes forget what we can contribute when we feel hungry for consumption
Truth is, we are all hungry for something.
Whether it’s hungry for attention, gratification, acceptance, love, appreciation, affirmation, peace, excitement, spontaneity, control, etc.
If you’re like me, you found out that walking with Jesus doesn’t destroy the craving for those things.
Jesus says that He is the living water
That when we have Him we will never thirst again
Jesus satisfies, but we keep eating things that won’t
“Why do you spend money for what is not bread, And your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.”
Isaiah 55:2 NKJV
We find ourselves running to the same junk food that left us empty before and are stuck in this perpetual cycle of being hungry still.
Hungry Still is what my Momma always used to say to me as a baby. I was always hungry and ready for another bite! I was never satisfied.
“A satisfied soul loathes the honeycomb, But to a hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.”
Proverbs 27:7 NKJV
I thought about it though… nothing has changed since then!
I’m still the same hungry baby.
I’ve been Hungry Still everyday since then because I ran to the things that tingle my tastebuds but do nothing for my nutrition.
There are some mindsets, habits, routines, people and other things that work as our souls junk food while the true nutrition is with Jesus
But we have trouble looking at Jesus when we have preset and quick ways of stoping that growl inside
It’s hard to go grab a salad when that bag of chips is right there
I’m right there with you
But it’s gotta stop
But let’s get real serious about satisfying that hunger, not just pacifying it!
That is what HSP is all about!
We all are hungry and we struggle everyday with what to fill ourselves with…
Allow me to be your sister-in-Christ and welcome Hungry Still into your day, not because Hungry Still is able to fill you, (because It’s not) but, because HSP is an available vessel God can use to pour true fullness into you!
We are on this journey together!
I am still learning everyday and this walk with Jesus has not been easy, but I don’t believe a full and purposeful life should ever come easy!
Though, every season has it’s challenges, I have found satisfaction in so many places where I was starving for all the wrong things.
I may not be perfect but I can tell you that, in this area of filling myself with the things that will never satisfy me, I am an expert.
So, I know what it is like to keep running to empty things over and over again, expecting to finally feel secured and full, and still end up more broken and empty.
This only made me even more so passionate about helping others alongside me see the truth about our soul hunger.
In the midst of my searching for water in every dry place, I found an endless well of satisfaction and healing in Jesus Christ and the LORD has shown me year after year that His word truly is what I was created to live by!
I know how it feels to be at the end of yourself and I know how it feels to have exhausted yourself trying to find where you belong. I know how it feels to feel like you can’t escape the pain of your past and I know what it feels like to be unsure if you will ever do anything worth while in the future. I know what it is like to reject yourself while still trying to fight for yourself everyday.
Again, I am not perfect.
In fact, I am especially broken.
I can honestly tell you that, though I am not a theologian, I have years of experience walking in my brokenness and seeing my own decisions leave me even more empty. I also have seen what has kept me full, regardless of how broken I am.
As we continue in this journey together, I will share how God has healed me and sealed some broken pieces in me.
My hope is that, while we are walking this out together, you will find the fullness you have been searching for, in the only One who is able to fill you.
I have been set free and I know now what being filled is. Now, I only want to share this with you, as we all learn and grow closer to God with every beautiful day God gives us the privilege of utilizing.
I am so happy to know you are with me in this journey and I am honored that Hungry Still? is something, through which, God can use, to express His love for you.
YOU ARE SO LOVED!
What We Believe
We believe in one God.
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit; (Matt. 28:19) God who chooses to be fully one while fully the Trinity. We believe God is omnipresent, (Psalm 139:7-10, 1 Kings 8:27, Jer. 23:24) which means that He can be outside of the limits of our time and space while He can be right here beside each one of us, all at once. He is God. He invented what we know to be time, so He is not limited to our time. He can fully be present with you in every moment of your life, while still being with me in every second.
We believe in the Holy Scriptures. We believe that the Holy Bible is completely God breathed and we believe that God inspired every word that was written through the individuals who laid their pen on what became the Word of God. (II Tim. 3:16-17) We believe the Bible from cover to cover; nothing added and nothing removed.
We believe in salvation and everlasting life; not earned by our works in this life, but given as a gift from God to those who believe that Jesus Christ is who made this gift accessible, because He paid the debt we couldn’t pay. (Eph. 2:8-9, Rom. 10:9)
We believe that man was created in God’s image and made by God, (Eph. 2:10, Gen. 1:26) for a purpose only the Creator has the right to assign. We believe that all have fallen away from the purpose God assigned for His beloved creation and that we have all chosen to do as we want in some area, (Rom. 3:23, Isaiah 53:6) therefore, choosing to depart from God’s word. We believe that we all have sinned and fall short of what we were created for. (James 4:17)
We believe that we are in need of a savior, because we believe that the price for our sins is death. (Rom. 6:23) We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is the Messiah; the Savior. Who did not sin, yet He got the consequences of one who sinned. This is because Jesus, Who owed nothing, decided to take on the debt that we all accumulated, just so we could be debt-free in the eyes of God. (II Cor. 5:21, Heb. 9:14)
We believe that Jesus Christ died but that He rose from the grave three days later, (Rom. 8:34) declaring that sin and death holds no power. (I Cor. 15:57) We believe that Jesus is the only way to the Father, the only way to everlasting life. (John 14:6) We believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
We believe that God the Holy Spirit dwells in each believer, empowering them and leading them. (John 14:26, Rom. 8:26) We believe that because of Jesus’ sacrifice, we are now vessels fit for the Spirit of God to reside in forevermore. (Rom. 8:11)
We believe that Jesus Christ will return to completely dissolve evil. (Heb. 9:28) We believe that He will make all things new and that He will bring a New Heaven and a New Earth. (Isaiah 65:17, Rev. 21:1-5)
We believe that in our everyday lives, God is fully present with us and He longs to give us not only everlasting life, after we leave this earth, but a truly fulfilled life, while we are here. We believe that we have the opportunity to live on this earth a life full of peace, abundance, freedom, joy, unity and power. (John 10:10, Jer. 29:11, Romans 15:13, Isaiah 58:11) We believe that this is available for us but only if we allow God to lead us by His Spirit and through His word.
We believe that God is with us in every step of our journey and He loves His creation, His people so much. (Isaiah 41:10, Romans 8:38-39) We believe that He wants to show us that only He is able to fully satisfy us in all of our wants and needs and we believe that He is patiently walking us to this revelation everyday! (Psalms 16:11, Phil. 4:19)
We believe that the LORD our God is what fully fills our hungry soul!
