Just feeling thankful is hard enough, especially during rough seasons.
I’m not talking about saying “thank you” to the person who holds the elevator door open for you, or the group prayer at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
True thankfulness.
Being thankful even when life is not what you would’ve asked for.
Living full of gratitude, regardless of what the circumstances may be.
Oftentimes, we can only muster up genuine gratitude on Thanksgiving; only to have stress and worry rip thankfulness far from our hearts, the next day.
Thankfulness is certainly difficult to hold onto, but when you have it, the amount of peace that you experience is out of this world!
Gratitude doesn’t just light up a room, it gives your heart an opportunity to rest and enjoy the things that fear usually distracts you from appreciating.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV.
Thankfulness brings peace which guards our hearts and minds!
How?
The answer is simple!
“in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
I Thessalonians 5:18 NKJV.
Gratitude towards God or the acknowledgment of God’s good hand on everything…
That is what God has called you to!
The enemy uses fear to keep you focused on all of the things that you don’t have, which keeps you from acknowledging God’s goodness, while robbing you of your peace.
You can’t praise God if you believe in your heart that He’s not done anything worthy to be praised for.
The enemy wants us to be fixated on all of the reasons why we shouldn’t trust in God.
If we don’t trust God and see how good and faithful He is, we will instead trust in our flesh; which leads us to sin.
Gratitude is immensely important to hold onto, yet our hearts are so inclined to find reasons to not be grateful.
WHY IS IT SO HARD TO BE THANKFUL?
There is a way to not only be thankful, but to remain thankful; come any circumstance!
Here it is!
To stay focused and improve on anything…
you must practice.
Thankfulness needs to be practiced!
Not simply thanking anyone who helps you,
(as we all should be doing anyways)
but actually experiencing true gratitude in your heart.
How can we practice this gratitude?
By making gratitude a daily habit!
Here is a practical way to practice thankfulness!

Thankful 33!
Follow us on Instagram for our
Thankful 33 event!
This is something I started before the blog was created.
It was just a way to stay thankful after Thanksgiving!
Because Christmas is right after Thanksgiving, we tend to spend that one day grateful, and then spend the next month thinking about what we don’t have.
T33 was made as a daily reminder to help you consider what you have each day leading up to Christmas!
There are 33 days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, so instead of spending that time thinking about what you want, remind yourself of what blessing you already have!
Every day there will be a new post on our instagram feed, to encourage you to practice thankfulness!
You will be amazed by how much more merry and bright the season will be after you’ve spent every day focused on the gifts that God has already lavished on you.
Join us as we practice thankfulness this season!
