Which stems from a hunger for provision and abundance.
Provision and abundance are not evil hungers; however, we oftentimes seek to feed those hungers in temporary, unfulfilling and ungodly ways. This hunger is typically fed with worldly forms of wealth and luxury.
Waffle fries for your soul could be placing your life’s value on the lifestyle that you aspire to live and focusing on having prosperity.
This could look like a sense of security when finances are bountiful, a lack of financial generosity and seeking only what provides benefits; especially regarding money and lifestyle.
The hunger for provision and abundance is given by the LORD!
This hunger is neutral!
We can’t blame the hunger for provision and abundance any more than we can blame the hunger for food and water. Those needs serve a purpose and God put them in our hearts for a reason.
Here’s the good news!
The way junk food can be replaced with nutrition, which will actually satisfy your hunger and bring health to your body…
The same can be done for your soul!
There is a perfect healthy alternative to this spiritual junk food.
Try replacing those spiritual waffle fries with God’s word!
” So, He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. “.
Deuteronomy 8:3 NKJV
Furthermore, we know that Jesus is the Word of God…
” In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. “
John 1:1-5, 9-14 NKJV
So, when you follow Jesus, seek Him and consume the word of God, you are actually feeding your spirit!
We see this confirmed in John 6:26-35.
” Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” Therefore, they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. “
John 6:26-35 NKJV
Your hunger to be abundantly provided for is perfectly normal and God placed that hunger in you to help your spirit thrive!
However, if you feed it with the temporary riches of the world, you will find that you are left hungry, moments afterwards. You never feel truly provided for and secure in your life because worldly riches cannot promise that you will always have enough. The only constant that you will find in this world is that it’s consistently inconsistent! This leaves you feeling anxious. Wondering if one day you could lose everything that makes you feel safe. Questioning your security. Fearing that your life could be ruined at any moment.
When you feed this hunger with the unwavering truth in God’s word, your spirit will not be starving for worldly abundance anymore! You will find your heart satisfied in the perfect provision of God!
